Factory Car Stereo Repair

"Let's keep it original"

"Why is keeping it factory the best?"
(or at least a very good idea!)
Shouldn't I just buy a used one?

6 DISC IN-DASH CD CHANGERS

In Dash 6 Disc Changer

Some of the problems that we have repaired are:

  • Not switching to CD Changer when you press the CD button
  • Won't eject, load, or play CD's - what to do to get my cd's out?
  • Loud clicking each time you start the vehicle
  • Loads then says error and ejects the cd
  • I used a cd with a label or sticker on it (from library, church, or other) now jammed
  • Coins and other stuff put in cd changer
  • Error Codes
  • Skipping or Pausing of CD being played
  • Other problems (E-mail us with specifics)

Easy steps for the repair.

  • You have many options with something that isn't working properly. The first step is to understand why you would want to repair instead of replace the unit. See "Why is repairing a good option"

  • Verify where the problem is and what needs to be repaired. Many times this is obvious (like on cd players that skip) but sometimes not so clear like sound that comes and goes (is it speaker, the amp, or stereo). Email a tech if you need help with figuring out where the problem is.

  • Review our estimate info here.

  • Remove it or have someone remove it for you.

  • Print off the Send in form to enclose with the changer (all info needed is on the form, address, email, etc.)

  • Wrap it good with some bubble-wrap to protect.

  • All the carriers deliver here (UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc.) Allow under 1 week for the repair, we'll contact you if need a few days longer for parts ordering.

  • Note: We will return everything that is sent in whether it's cd's or brackets, all will be kept together.

Here are general removal tips, specific tips are linked from the vehicles model page when available.

OEM Stereos do not require removing the knobs or faceplates as they did decades ago. They generally come out to the front as a complete stereo. The brackets that hold them in are usually just hidden by the dash trim that surrounds it. These panels generally have a couple well hidden screws holding them and then they usually will unsnap off, carefully. Once the stereo is out away from the dash you will see the connectors have a tab type lock to squeeze and release to unplug them.

Feedback from Acura Owners

Problem: static in speakers
Removal Tips:  no problems... removed panel (2 screws) and 2 screws holding unit in place... took less than 10 min to remove and replace...
Comments:   just wanted to thank you for the expert advice and most importantly the excellent job repairing my Acura stereo... had the unit back about a week and it sounds great...excellent turnaround time as well... i will be sure to pass your website on to others with import car audio problems! thanks again
Kelly - Raleigh, NC. 1995 Acura Legend LS
Well my dealer had to admit he was wrong and you were right about the amp being under the head unit. I think the reason their computers told them otherwise was because they did not enter the Car's model number, but instead went by VIN number. When I called another dealer they did the same thing and got the same results - specifications for an LS and GS model. When they enter Legend L into the computer it came up with this head unit. So I really appreciate your expertise and advice in the matter. I am sending the unit to you overnight and truly hope you can work on it as soon as possible. Just wanted to let you know... There are a couple of places that I could have sent this stereo to be repaired, one was even closer to me than you, but you were so helpful and knowledgeable about the stereo that you really made a great impression. I really respect someone who knows their business as you do, not to mention you were must more personable than another company I called. Customer service goes a long way!  I attached a note asking if you can fix the display lights in the head unit (there is one that is out in mine!). If you can fix these lights I would be very grateful - having the light annoys the hell out of me! Dan - West Chester, PA. 1995 Acura Legend L

Thanks for all your help. You were a pleasure to do business with. I was really happy that you remembered the light that was out in the radio! The unit sounds better than ever. I'll recommend your business to anyone with a Bose system. Dan - West Chester, PA. 1995 Acura Legend L

Great job! Everything went very smooth. I installed the radio & CD changer today and everything works well. I can now enjoy listening to some of those CD's I have not played in months. Roger - Hermosa Beach, CA   91 Legend LS
Thank you for the great service! You fixed the problem with hissing coming from the head unit and returned the unit to me in better-than-new condition by adding a line in jack for my Ipod - all for a very reasonable price. I couldn't be happier! Brandon - San Francisco 92 Acura Legend

All 4 amplifiers, which are attached to each speaker were bad. The dealerships prices for 4 new ones was over $700.00. Willman's repaired mine and the total repair and shipping time was less than 2 weeks.

Removal Tips: The web site instructions for removal and replacement are right on. I got them back today at 5PM and at 7PM they were reinstalled and sounding great.

Comments: All the reasons for repairing, as listed at this site, are right on target for me. I don't want an after market system; after all I paid a premium to get this one when I bought the car!  Virgil   Ocala, FL  1990 Acura Legend Bose Speakers

WOW!!! Thanks for being so quick. You are a very respectable business and that is hard to find these days - especially over the internet.  Please know that if we ever need service for our other car's stereo, you will be the first we look to. Sincerely, Maria  Illinois  1994 BMW 740i 6 Disc Changer
Everybody's had that "too good to be true" notion about offers, deals and "come-ons," especially on the internet. Well...Willman's is most assuredly NOT too good to be true; they are true and they are good. I was impressed from start to finish when I entrusted my 10-year-old factory-installed automobile CD Changer to their care to diagnose and remedy, following 3 years of non-use because I couldn't find anyone to repair it within reasonable cost, and with such ease and dispatch. I found the answer in Willman's. I e-mailed and spoke personally to Daryl Willman on several occasions, who made himself available for consultation and step-by-step progress. The fixed-price estimate is rarely seen these days, and pre-approval for over-runs provides customer control at every stage. I will not hesitate to recommend Willman's to anyone requiring expert analysis and service. Thank you!! Chris  Pensacola, FL 1992 BMW 325i
First off I'd like to thank you and the great people at Willman's Electronics for the superb customer service and help dealing with my problem. I was greatly impressed that you spent the time to check out my unit and not charge me labor, for which I would have expected to pay. Having pulled the unit and now replacing it back in the car, I can say that it shouldn't take more that half an hour to pull or replace the radio.

You were right that there was nothing wrong with the unit, the problem was a 15 amp fuse in slot 22 of the fuse box next to the steering column. I know I checked all the fuses once before, but somehow missed that one. Again your great service is appreciated. Regards, Will - Wisconsin   95 Nissan Maxima

Thank you for the prompt email reply and the great information. My stereo is on the way to you via UPS. I will give you the tracking number if you need it. Please let me know when it arrives and what you find out about what is wrong with it. If you need any information at all just email me and I will get back to you very quickly. By the way I had emailed over a dozen other online repair shops and choose you because you sounded the most honest of them all. Thanks, Mark

Thank you for the great service, the unit works just like new. I really appreciate your excellent work and very reasonable rate. You are top notch and if there is anyone that I know in need of your service I will definitely recommend your service to him or her. Thanks, Mark

I had been driving around town without a radio for months because I changed the battery in my Acura 2.5TL and did not know the security code. Thanks to your tips, I was able to find the code and save 85 bucks!!!!! Thanks again. James
